Mgr. Petr Kočár

 

 

 

Petr Kočár is a researcher at the Institute of Archaeology of the Czech Academy of Sciences in Prague. He gives lectures of Environmental Archaeology at the Department of Archaeology of the Faculty of Arts at the University of West Bohemia in Pilsen and also lectures of Archaeobotany at the Institute of Classical Archaeology at the Faculty of Arts at the Charles University in Prague. He is also a member of the editorial boards of the scientific journals Památky Archeologické and Archeologické Rozhledy published by the Institute of Archaeology of the Czech Academy of Sciences in Prague. He graduated at the Faculty of Biology at the University of South Bohemia in Budweis (České Budějovice).

 

His scientific focus comprises above all archaeobotanical research of Central European sites dated back to the Agrarian Prehistory, Middle Ages and Early Modern Age. His specialization is specifically the archaeobotany of Medieval mining sites, the archaeobotany of wetland sites from prehistory up to the Middle Ages, range of the agricultural plants in the Prehistory etc.

 

In a frame of the ERCA Centre he is responsible mainly for archaeobotanical macro-rest analyses, including sampling in the field.
