Romana Kočárová is a researcher at the projects at the Department of Botany of the Faculty of Sciences of the Charles University in Prague, at the Faculty of Sciences of the University of South Bohemia in Budweis (České Budějovice), at the Faculty of Arts of the Masaryk university in Brno, at the Institute of Archaeology of the Czech Academy of Sciences in Prague etc.
She also takes a part in the international anthracological research projects, e.g. at the sites excavated in Uzbekistan by the Institute of Classical Archaeology of the Faculty of Arts of the Charles University.
Her main scientific interests are xylological and anthracological analyses of samples from Central European archaeological sites dated back to the period from the Agrarian Prehistory up to the Early Modern Age. Specifically, she is focused on the issue of the reconstruction of the European forest vegetation with the use of the archaeo-anthracological methods.
In a frame of the ERCA Centre she is responsible mainly for the analyses and taxonomical determination of wood and charcoal.
